What about harvesting wet, waterlogged land?

Apart from stunning scenery, beautiful lakes and many walks Cumbria is also renowned for it’s wet weather! And this past winter has been no exception with it being one of the wettest on record!

With this in consideration it is essential to have a successful harvesting technique that can cope with wet ground conditions in Cumbria without causing damage to the land or any unnecessary delays in harvesting.

Iggesund have recently harvested 11Ha of SRC Energy Crop Willow on land owned by James Duff from Kirkbride in Wigton.

The effects of the water logging from rainfall in these fields made it virtually impossible to walk on, let alone harvest.

However with development of the low ground pressure harvesting machine, the 4 year old SRC willow was successfully harvested from the site this winter with no subsequent ground damage.
